Product Requirements and Challenges for Diesel Generator Sets in the Petrochemical Industry

Due to the unique nature of the petrochemical industry, high-performance diesel generator sets are essential to meet environmental and efficiency requirements. Kaichen Power has specifically designed and developed these specialized generator sets for the petrochemical sector. These units feature short response times, rapid startup, and stable current, voltage, and frequency, ensuring a continuous and reliable power supply for clients during power outages.

Generator sets for the petrochemical industry generally include mobile diesel generators and stationary diesel generators. By function, they are categorized as: standard generator sets, automated generator sets, monitored generator sets, automatic transfer generator sets, and automatic parallel generator sets. By structure, they are categorized as: open-frame generator sets, enclosed generator sets, and mobile generator sets. Enclosed generator sets can be further divided into: rainproof enclosed generator sets, low-noise generator sets, ultra-quiet generator sets, and containerized power stations. Mobile generator sets can be divided into: trailer-mounted mobile diesel generator sets and vehicle-mounted mobile diesel generator sets.

Although oilfields have grid power supply, it is often unreliable and may be interrupted due to seasonal changes, severe weather, or line failures. Our generators offer stable performance to support the normal operations of oilfields.

1. Series and Parallel Operation Functions

Series Backup Function: Can be integrated with an ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) to achieve automatic switching between utility power and diesel generator sets, or dual-redundant switching between two diesel generator sets.

Parallel Expansion Function: Two or more three-phase generator sets of exactly the same specifications and models can operate in stable parallel mode within a range of (20–100%) of rated power at the rated power factor. To improve the accuracy of active and reactive power distribution and operational stability, the diesel engine governor in the unit must be equipped with a device capable of adjusting the steady-state speed variation within the range of (2–5). The voltage regulation device within the control panel allows the steady-state voltage regulation rate to be adjusted within a range of 5.

2. Operating Conditions

Operable at altitudes below 3,000 meters;

Ambient temperature range: minimum -15°C, maximum 40°C; units for other ambient conditions are available upon request.

3. Stable Performance and High Reliability

The unit's mean time between failures (MTBF) is no less than 2,000 hours.

4. Convenient Fuel and Water Refueling Facilities and Protective Measures

The unit is equipped with an external fueling system featuring a lockable mechanism;

A large fuel tank is typically required to support 12–24 hours of operation.

Solution

High-performance, stable generator sets featuring a low-noise design and equipped with a PLC-5220 control system with AMF functionality. By connecting to an ATS, the system ensures that the backup power supply can immediately provide power to the oilfield in the event of a main power failure.
