Gasoline generator sets exhibit broadband noise characteristics, requiring silencers to withstand high airflow velocities, high temperatures, high pressures, and be resistant to water and humidity. The performance of the silencer does not significantly change with temperature increases. Therefore, micro-perforated plate composite silencers are commonly used in noise reduction. These silencers, made from 0.5–1 mm thin steel plates with 0.5–1 mm apertures and a perforation rate of 1%–3%, have a double-layer structure and offer good absorption for both mid- and high-frequency noise. When using multiple layers, the cavity thickness depends on the absorption frequency band: 150–220 mm for low frequencies (125–250 Hz) and 80–120 mm for mid-frequency frequencies (500–1000 Hz). When the high frequency is 2000–4000 Hz, the cavity is 30–50 mm. To prevent the propagation of sound waves along the length of the tube within the cavity of the micro-perforated plate, a transverse baffle is added every 0.5 m for silencers requiring high noise reduction.
